ACEL Champions for Charity Kickball Tournament

We Didn’t Win It! But We Sure We Had Fun In It!

Twenty Ad Fed friends and members gathered at the Alachua County Fairgrounds on Saturday, February 23rd to play in the Alachua County Emerging Leaders (ACEL) Champions for Charity Kickball Tournament. The team donned their fabulous “In It To Win It” t-shirts (a special thank you to A. Mous Productions for donating them), discovered the ball was huge and realized practice would be necessary in order to represent the Ad Fed at the level that, you, our fans would demand.

Coached by Nate Trenteseaux, the Ad Fed team was psyched and grabbed a win against the home team, ACEL, in the opening round. The next game, however, proved to be more rigorous. The team had to wait about an hour and a half between frames and somehow they found the  margaritas being given away in the Regions Bank tent, then they discovered the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream being served by 352 Media Group. Some team members were feeling a little sluggish – and some not feeling anything at all – when the second game was played so the win went to arch rival, FPRA. Soon after that sobering outcome, Ad Fed had to compete against The Tutoring Zone. The Ad Fed - “In It To Win It!” team rebounded in this game.

Team members displayed real talent and scored like crazy; they played like they knew what they were doing and won! The Ad Fed final game was against 352 Media Group. Ad Fed tried heckling 352, claiming that even though 352 had taken Best of Show at the ADDYs, they wouldn’t be able to win on this field. 352 proved that to be wishful thinking by clobbering the Ad Fedders. The team may have been distracted by an over-sized slip-n-slide that was set up during the final round for use by the crazies. Naturally, several of the Ad Fed folks literally dove in and made waves. Everyone had too much fun! Ad Fed placed 7th in a field of 15.  ACEL raised over $4,500 for local charities with the help of many organizations including Ad Fed. Look out for next year - the team is already talking smack!
